This building, now significantly altered, was originally the residence of Conrad Hoffman. It was then the residence of Aloyes Bauer from 1897 until his death in 1925. Bauer founded Bauer Industries in 1888 and was one of Waterloo's most prominent citizens in the early twentieth century. The building was later turned into the Bauer Apartments. In 1966 this building became the home of the St. Louis Parish Credit Union, Waterloo's first credit union, founded on December 4, 1947. A successor credit union still makes its home in a modern addition to the building. Currently threatened with demolition.
