Built by Samuel Snider Sr., owner of 448 acres on Lot 22, German Company Tract, which covers what is now Westmount and the Westmount Golf Course. In 1936 the house and 56 acres were purchased by Mr. J. D. C. Forsyth, president of John Forsyth Shirts, Limited. The Dominion Life Assurance Company purchased the property in order to build a housing development and head office. The house was retained and put up for sale. The interior of the house still contains many original features, including a fireplace with a dutch oven. The house is now covered with artificial siding.
