Historic Waterloo

Name: ReMax-Seagram Building
Address: 83 Erb Street West
Year Built: 1851
Heritage Status: Designated (Part IV)

A two-storey brick building that was originally the Buehler Foundry, which was established in 1851. In 1888, the foundry, which by this time was called the Union Foundry, was merged with the Waterloo Foundry, and operations were moved to a site on King Street South. The property was then acquired by Joseph E. Seagram as an addition to his distillery. The building has been used as a cooperage, lumber and barrel storage building, a machine shop beginning in 1950. This building was renovated in 1981 as the administration offices for Seagram's Distillery. After Seagram's left Waterloo, this building was purchased by Sunvest Realty and became the home of a ReMax Real Estate office.
